as i undo the connnectons from the flywheel and all the gas comes out... not sure if its bad for me or watever, so i thought id asked for...
so what do i need to do to remove the air con, as in de gassing and just ripping out the engine type of way

Removing the bolts from the flywheel? what the
What you should have done is had an aircon place take the gas out for you before you started your conversion (save the environment)...
Are you going to take the aircon out of the car, or leave it in? If your leaving it in do 4ac's nad 4age's have different compressors? If not I'd leave the system gassed (ie just disconnect the compressor from the block, leaving the lines attached to it, then bolt it back onto the 4age). Otherwise I guess you can just release the gas and change compressors over, then get it regassed at an aircon place....
If you want to know how to remove it completely then thats another story too
Cheers
Wilbo

i just un did the nut and let the gas out
then i just cut the belt took the air con out by undoing the bolts to the block then pulled out the aircon box from the passanger side inside the car.
but i think you will have to get a custome belt made up or use a piece of string or something to see how bigger belt you will need.

i meant firewall, not flywheel
i just undid it and let the gas out, i'm ripping out the whole system, so i don't need any gasses

Is it possible to not release the gas when going from a 4ac to 4age? Gas in my system is still perfectly filled (previous owner said hes never regassed it) and I would like to save having to convert over to the newer gas.

Releasing A/C gas to the atmosphere is highly illegal and not something I would be admitting too! A/C installers should be used to remove the gas before you take the car off the road, or alternatively if you can provide a soruce of vacuum, and a catch tank, you could try removing it that way.
No, the compressors are not interchangeable between the 4AC and 4AGE without modification - the 4AC comp uses a V rib belt, while the 4AG comps use a serpintine belt.

I know I understood that but as I had not heard otherwise I though maybe you could get the correct shape wheel/gear put on to match. Aircon is definate there is no question about it so getting the whole 4age aircon system is the only way?

I converted and AE82 from 4A-c to 4A-GE about 5 years ago.
From my vague memory, all the pipes were the same except for one little bugger at the front that went around the thermo fan, differently to how the 4A-C engine was laid out (its fans were both inside the engine bay, 4A-GE had one outside).
I would state that I do not believe you can swap the $A-C and 4A-GE without de-gassing and undoing the air cond pipes.
The R12 refridgerant that was in it will not harm you directly, unless you cop a real lungful. It is a hydrocarbon sorta like thinners etc in the sense that you don't really want it on your skin, but it will not make your arm drop off if you do get some of it on there.

For the $16.50 it cost me to have it removed correctly, its worth saving the environment.
Do it properly you cheap bastards
