Supra GB in an AE86 Thu, 29 January 2004 10:25 Go to next message
Hi all,

Which extension housing do I need with a Supra gearbox (W55/W57/W58/etc) for the best fitting through the standard shifter hole in the floorplan?

I know a few of you have already done this but havent easily found the answer searching the forums!?

Many thanks,
Denis

RA60 W57, although chances are you'll still need to move things around a little bit Evil or Very Mad

Will that sit the shifter slightly forward or back of the std hole?

It would be nice to bring the shifter back and inch or two...

Probably be a tad far forward still. Trick is to do what I did with mine, cut the stick off about ¼" above the pivot, and weld a piece of flat steel on there then more it to where you like. Also a hint if you're using the Dellows bellhousing: your gearbox will end up on an angle, therefore if you don't cut the stick off, the gearstick ends up pointing horribly to the left... Evil or Very Mad

Whats to stop you from using one of the rear shifter housings? The ones from the Mk3 Supra's actually come out the back of the hole.

Mk2 W58's have the shifter in the middle position, same as the RA6x. It's the Mk3 boxes that have the rear shifter position.

Although, despite my thoughts on the dellhousing, that starter motor hole on the other side might well prove useful in the end Evil or Very Mad I'll see how it goes when I get round to taking my engine out! Evil or Very Mad
