First just like to say hi to you all and looking forward to posting on your forums

Anyway ..i have a toyota supra with a 1g-gte engine and all the sites i have found info on conflict when it come's to setting the ignition timing .. some say just to tweak the dizzy and set it to 10 degrees ..others say connect pins T+E1 on the diagnostic plug and then set the timing ( which then gives 5 degrees when dissconnected ??)..im getting very confused as im not much of an ignition person and am more at home with an engine in bits and the is little to no info about this car anywhere.
Also .. when does the ignition advance ? and what should the idle be set to as standard?

Many thanks for any replys.Smile

hi

Manual supports linking T+E1 and setting advance to 10 degree.

so linking t+e1 is just fully advancing the ignition ? so the so the advance is 10 degrees ..so what is the timing without advance supposed to be.. 5 degrees? still bloody confused lol

no. I believe it is to stop any advance. Not sure that I understand the 5 deg bit as the last time I checked the timing it was still 10 deg after I removed the link. The manual is not in english so it will not be any good to you. I will see what I can do for the timing and resetting idle.

you hook those two up and I believe it gives you the base timing without any change from the computer, because the computer messes with your timing.
So you need to short them out first then do it to 10 degrees. What the computer does with it then once wire is taken out is upto it.
