cat heat sheild requirements in WA Fri, 30 January 2004 09:21 Go to next message

hey i have finished my 1gge in ra40 conversion and am planning to take it for inspection next week.
i have one final question, the exhaust shop thought the licensing centre might want me to have a heat shield above the catalytic convertor. i have been driving the car round without problem so far so dont know if i can be bothered fitting one if i dont have to.
has anyone had any issues with this?

thanks

i think a standard RA40 has heat shields in the approriate places anyway (under passenger floor/seat wells; next to fuel tank (if hatchback).

if you don't, a quick trip to the wreckers should fix it, there's heaps of mount points anyway under the car for shields- all take 10mm bolts (M6 in bolt code).

probably worth it for passenger comfort anyway - CATS get very hot anyway.
