hose blocks?

i need some imput on what to use to block some heater hoses.
seems as i anit get a heater box in my car anymore 
i was thinking broom handle but not sure if it will hold up to the water rotting it away.
anyone got any ideas?

put gasket goo on a big bolt {one that only just fits} and put 2 clamps on there too, but very tight, the threads will "cut" into the hose and the goo will make it fool proof
