G'day all!
I'm looking for a place in Sydney to supply and fit a low K jap import 7mge engine for my '86 Supra. I've tried Just Jap and Japanese Used Car Spares, but they're a bit $$$$$. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

whats wrong with yours? Why not rebuilt it? Most you find from a wreckers will be as bad or worse than yours.

V8_MA61:
I like your "very nervous W58" signiture. So what does that make my W57? "Psychologically inbalanced W57"?

He doesnt mean a wreckers, he means an import place, ie, a low km import motor.
However, me being over in WA doesnt help you much.

All 7M's are at least 12-13 years old, so your chances of finding a "low km" one anywhere are pretty slim. You might get lucky but then again you might not; it's always a gamble with import engines, especially problematic ones like the 7M. It's hard to spot a BHG or shagged bearings when the engine is sitting on a pallet in a warehouse...

Thats exactly right norbie. Most engines that are imported have been sitting around for ages. With no water in them and exposed to weather (7ms arent a high priority engine in japan) Alloy parts like the head get highly corroded. After pulling down my engine and seeing the big ends, please make yourself rebuild it, or you will learn the hard way.

yeah and he can spend $2000 getting it rebuilt.
7M's suck. theyre not that good and too rare - making them too expensive.
whats it for, to keep or to sell - ie if keeping consider a conversion.

pulling down the whole engine. I did mine for $2100. Thats for everything to be professionally cleaned, a fully rebuilt, new cylinder head, all new bottom end parts eg bearings. Genuine parts throughout. Now providing your head isnt rooted you wont have to spend the extra $500 i did.
Good chance it is rooted if you dont look after it.
Um and no 7m's arent crap. An engine is only as good as its owner
