on the sill is fine. most new small cars can be safely lifted by the sill, unless there is a nice piece of chassis rail easily accessible...

under the engine crossmember at the front, and the suspension crossmember in the rear that the lateral arms bolt to.

The sill's aren't strong enough to support the car's weight on a hydraulic jack. They only have re-inforced sills in small sections at the front and the rear for the scissor jack, go either side of these sections and you will push the sill in.
