What's your long term dream car project?
|

As the topic says!
And by the way, Im not refering 4A-GE or 1UZ into EE-80 Corolla. Well, not unless you lack aspiration or rationality. so be realistic.
My dream as a long term Toyota(of course) project would be 2000GT replica. Replica should be accurate and flawless from out side. Interior could be tubed and look like 60's racing car. In the cabin spirit overcomes details in this case. Engine could be 1G-GE in the original like spirit and to keep this realizable.
This is old mans project and now I'm young, busy and broke. So call this long term project.
Mmm Think about being retired and watching the world around behind the steering wheel of 2000GT replica and cruising from club events to car shows .

Yeah a 2000GT would be on my list but my first major project of that sort would be a 25th Anniv. Lamborghini Countach built from a tube frame from scratch and a 1UZ in the rear
my list of future projects looks like this:
RA28 - full ground up rebuild (learning curve, somthing special)
MA70 - general clean up (future daily driver)
1977 - Pontiac Trans-am SE (if I can find an SE in Aus)
Lamborghini Countach Kit car.
After that.... 2000GT, Corvette Roadster,
I've got Access to a few cars up around the farm which may get slotted in as a quick clean up or a full resto ie Pontiac Parisseian(?), Zepher ute, Manline ute, Fx Pano
and somwhere in there I'm going to build a decent flat bed car trailer or a tilt tray small truck fo moving cars around when in varied states of repair.

Well I would be happy with my current car. Just make it really nice inside and out and get it up to 250+rwkw. I would then be happy.

on the opposite side, I'd want to start with an ma61.
strip it down to a chassis, rebuild using light weight materials, race suspension, lightweight race mags, huge brakes, carbon fibre bonnet with subtle vents, all powered by .... undecided
2jz-gte, 1uz-fte, 3s-gte, 1gz-fe.
ie - nuts circuit car

I'd be happy just to get the ute in my avatar pic back on the road and in a condition I'm striving for, within the next ten years?!
And yes, those F1 engines are bloody nice, but imagine the drama getting parts for one?!!! Wonder if Supercrap stock anything for them, cos they don't stock anything else anymore?!!!

One I've been thinking about lately:

For my ultimate project I'd have to say a Ford GT40 replica with a twin turbo 3UZ-FE. I'd love to have one with a serious N/A UZ with individual throttle bodies and the huge bunch of bananas style extractor of the origonal car just for the sound but I think the turbos would be the choice in the end.
On a slightly less extreme tack I'd enjoy building an AW11 with an NSX V6 or a F355 V8.

the maclaren f1 motor is nice. i think a speed 12 engine is cooler, its bigger, and meaner
ultimate long termer is something semi classic and rwd with alot of sheet metal cut out and replaced with tubes, and a flip front. damn flip fronts are the coolest. and really wide wheels which stick out of the guards a little, with not so wide tires that dont (well the treaded part anyway).

hmmmm, dream car?
well, to start with.
KE15/17.
rack and pinion, wider track, longer wheelbase, 4AGTE running a mild 10psi, biggest brakes that fit under 15" Panasports or _REAL_ Superlights.
simply for the challenge, and no-one takes old cars seriously... not that seriously anyway
this car would eventually evolve into a back of the field sports sedan.
after that.
couple of choices.
Fraser with a 2L V8, turbo, something along the lines of mating a couple of R1 or ZX10 motor together =D
ANY kind of car with the Bugatti Veyron (sp?) turbo W16, making 1000Nm and 1001HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy moly.
http://www.lambocars.com/highres/veyron3.jpg
or the MASSIVE W18, 3 banks of 6 cyls... 8L
http://www.lambocars.com/highres/bugattie3.jpg
mmmm the "production" version of the W16 Quad turbo!!!

could that fit into a Locost?? hmmm, maybe a Cobra replica

Longish Term
My Cressida, rebuild a 1uzfe (maybe 3uzfe or whateva is around for the price) to handle 25psi of Supercharged goodness, and a 150ish shot of NOS for the strip. Drivetrain will be V160 and Truetrac.
Rest will remain as is, tho 17's and bigger brakes are in the loop somewhere.

My ultimate project at the moment and I will make this happen one day. Its taking a AE92 sx seca and cutting off the body and attaching it to the chassis of a AE92 corolla AWD wagon. Carbon fibre wide body panels for front and rear will also be used. It will use a 3SGTE engine and full GT4 diffs, driveshafts and full running gear. The 3SGTE will be a full ground up rebuild to produce around the 500hp mark. A nice big front mount intercooler will take pride at the front.
Hmmmmm, I think that will very much deserve a GT badge.
Yeah, thats my ultimate long term project

Hi,
Well I'm almost done getting the '25 back to it's full JDM glory, but one cannot get evil on a classic GT, so I'll be looking for a new project.
Most probably looking at getting another RA25 or TA27 and dropping in a 152E engine and whatever other shit needs to go in to make it mean and nasty.
If I was buying a dream car, as opposed to building one, I couldn't go past a 1970 Ferrari 365/GTB (aka Daytona - last of the Ferrari front engined, RWD, V12 machines) or a Shelby GT500.
Ahh.. perchance to dream...

PS Then again, I may just get a Hyandui and make it fully sik and hectic just to annoy all you Toyotaheads!

I probably wouldn't muck around with projects either.
1 Ariel Atom please!
Or for a few laughs a Spyker C8 Spyder.
