Wanted: ST185 Celica GT-Four Group A bonnet Mon, 02 February 2004 21:09 Go to next message
Hey, I am looking for a group A bonnet from a 1990-1993 Celica. It's the one with the sorta vent thing, rather than a scoop. Thanks

I'm also looking...how did you go? Did you track one down? Have you tried Toyota?

Isaac , as before these thigs are becoming VERY VERY rare ..

my one took me nearly 4 months to surce and it was damaged ..

if you want it just for looks - theres a place in sydney that makes a replca you could have put into your bonnet ..

it would work out alot cheaper in the end , as most people who get them use them on Gt4's in conjunction with the water to Air intercooler setups..

How close do the replicas look? Are there any photos on the net?

As this is for a rally car, it needs to look pretty authentic as that's the rules.

Thanks,
Matt

What type of intercooler are you planning to run first on the rallycar ?

A stock air to air unit ?if so its totally pointless getting a group A vent .. They dont draw air down onto the cooler ..

If your using water to Air - thts different ..

Replicas dont look 100% the same - as the bonnet on a group A has more of a rise in it .

The car currently has the air-to-air, but I want to swap it to the water-to-air for a range of reasons.

I saw a "replica GT4" bonnet the other day...it will definitely not cut it !!

Thanks,
Matt

hmms -

well the easiest way to get your water to air setup AND the bonnet is to try and source an RC frontcut from japoan ..

Thats what ive had to do for the last 2 bonnets ive wanted ..

youll also get all the gear to make it into a " wrc replica " look like the bumper as well .

A water to air will still work fine under the standard Gt4 bonnet , though the group a one is more efficient in heat dissipation from the engine bay

Apologies to Isaac for the thread hijack!!

Classique, I'm not sure whether I'm allowed* to run the Group A intercooler and the air-to-air bonnet.

*CAMS rules require confirmation which I haven't achieved yet.

either that - or you can source them sometimes as complete rolling cars for less than 10K ..

ive seen two st185 RC's ( group A ) delivered for race or rally use for sub 8k priices and 205's for 12k ish Smile

Everythings there to go - and factory fitted

Can you confirm that people have installed the water-to-air intercooler under the normal GT4 bonnet?

Can anybody?

They'd have to go close surely.

How did you go? I've tracked down a GPA front cut which I'm collecting on Friday so will start the complete transfer of bits needed to do this.

Inlet air temps with the air-to-air are shocking!!
