Hey guys. Just wondering anyone actually make a REAL heavy duty shelf for these things? I've busted 2 of these shelves now. The second one being today even through some minor reinforcements. Anyone got any pics or ideas?

What are you using; the moulded stuff or something? I just used mdf with some steel reinforcement underneath to stop sag. The shelves on either side would break before my shelf does.
Looks like this but I have newer speakers in there now. http://www.users.on.net/nperin/Pictures/Car/Pictur e005.jpg

I know the bits on the side of hte standard shelf are weak. Mine has dropped through. Too many train tracks n hard suspension has made it the case. I'm assuming anything vaguely strong has to be made to accomodate the loss of the crappy plastic bolt on panels on either side of the shelf? Anyone have anymore pictures or ideas? My main criteria is to have the shelf flippable so the boot is still usable. Plus has to be able to not rattle and hold a load of approximately 15 kilos.

If some one could host my pictures I could show you what I did with mine to solve this issue.
Cheers

Hi,
It is not a mold really. More of a laminate. In that I stripped the original parcel shelf and then used carbon (free air lay-up, in future I'll use vacuum form)glass etc to lay up both sides of the parcel shelf.
I cut the holes for the speakers prior to all this as to save carbon matting, plus it is a bitch to cut once the epoxy resin has gone off!
If you know anything about fibreglassing then this is not to hard to do yourself.
Enjoy
