TA23 parts to a TA22 Wed, 04 February 2004 00:44 Go to next message
Hey people,
A few questions, can I pull the front strut (inc. spring, brakes setup etc.) off a TA23 and bolt them straight into a TA22. Also same question with the brake master cylinder. Next, can I pull the rear suspention and brakes off the TA23 and pop them on the TA22. And finaly the radiator, can i just bolt a TA23 one into a TA22? As im sure you have guessed, im thinking of buying a TA23 that has good parts and i already have a nice TA22 shell. Are there any parts i cant swap over or if its eiser to list the parts you can swap over.
Thanks guys
david...

TA23's I've seen have come with both early and later model struts (different shocks, brakes, bearings and hubs) - whether this is due to people fitting different struts, or a factory setting, I couldn't give you a definative answer. Generally speaking, most people say the lower spring platform is too big to fit in the TA22 shock tower, though I have read other people say it's bolt in fit?

Brake master cylinder will be different, TA22 uses two bolt up points, while a TA23 uses the later model 4 bolt up point affair. Rear suspension and brakes will interchange, diff flange's can be minutely different though, again I think it depends on the type of diff flange you gat. The radiators between the two are completely different and not an easy swap.

Parts you can swap over: Doors and side window glass and winders, motor and gearbox, and most of the rear panels and trimmings

Me thinks! The brakes on the TA23 are the same as the TA22, so why swap?, unless they are in better condition than yours. Ditto master cyl. Struts, are changeable, you will need to use the TA22 strut tops, on the 23 struts to make em fit. The radiator would need to have your TA22 side straps attached, again it would need to be a reallly good radiator to warrant the expense of changing the brackets off one radiator and onto another.

regards Chuck.

If the struts off of the ta23 fit straight into the ta22 (i don't think they do) why not put in some ra 23/28 or 40 series struts. They all have 10" brakes instead of 9". I put the struts from a RA28 into my ta23, bolt in relplacement except you need ra28 shocks. The same goes for the diff and rear suspension. I dont think they are the same ta22 to ta23 but they are ta23 and ra23/28
