Hi all,
I need a pair of standard RA40 front struts for a coil-over conversion.
two complete units (with brakes and upper mounts)would be great, but as a minimum,I need two strut tubes, with the hubs attached.
if anyone in Sydney has a pair of these, please email me directly at fergo308@hotmail.com,or post here.
thanks,
Justin...

wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to go buy some new ones like munroes or pedders? that way you also have new shocks.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been able to source a pair for $100 from Crostek.
as I understand it,monroe and pedders don't offer a complete strut, all they have is a spring, and a shock insert for the original strut. the shocks they offer aren't strong enough for my needs either. this isn't what I need,as these struts are to be shortened, and fitted with adj. coil-over sleeves, and bigger brakes, then fitted to my sprinter. I wanted a pair of 40 struts as they're stronger than the sprinter's std units. since I'll be sinking another $800 into them,I'd like to use something I won't break with hard track use.

most of the race guys re AE86 group A put a sleeve in between the 2 bearings which in turn strenghened the stub axle

Stew:
thanks for the offer, but I bought a pair of struts on friday arvo. Newcastle isn't far away,I have family in port stephens,so I could always drop by on the way up sometime if I needed to.

Interesting solution,I'd not heard of that before. you wouldn't have a pic of this by any chance would you,or know somewhere I could take a look at the setup?

you make a tube that fits over the stub axle in btw the bearings that strengthens the stub axle and stops disc flex in tight turns it an old trick TRD did it to there own AE86s to stop the flexing of the axles much cheaper than using ra40 struts
