Guys and gals,
I need help and quick ! Sad
I need to remove the selector arm from a W57 g/box.
This arm is what the ball at the end of the g/stick slots in to.
I have taken off the 9 bolts around the middle of the casing and
the g/box moves apart about 10mm now.
But how do I slide the selector rod out of the arm ?
Do I need to take off the plate around the input shaft ?
Do I thump the 'muther' with a big hammer until the b@stard breaks open ?
All help appreciated.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Do you mean how do you slide the arm off the rod?
There's a 10mm bolt holding the arm onto the rod, did you pull that out?

JCMF - I will give PeeWee a call tomorrow at a more reasonable hour !

BigWorm,
I could mean that - but I'm not good with the technical terms.
The arm/rod was bolted to the shaft with a 12mm bolt. That is out, but I still need to slide the selector shaft far enough 'back' into the gearbox so I can slip the arm/rod off.

Thanks guys.
Mitch.

Ah ok, I think I know what you mean.
What's stopping the extension housing from coming off?
I've got a Toyota W58 rebuild manual here, & the only other thing are the 2 restrictor pins either side of the arm bit you're trying to remove. Have you pulled them out?
With those out, the 12mm blt out, & the 9 big bolts, the extension hoising should slide right off.

BW - I should not need to pull those pins out as I still have to slide the rod off the shaft - but its late and dark outside, and I am tried and emotional (!) so I will try again tomorrow morning first thing.
Thanks for all your help dude !
Cheers,
Mitch.
