3 terminal batteries

Does anybody have ANY idea who might sell the 3 terminal batteries? The ones that have 7 or 8 cells (14 or 16 volts nominal) with a third terminal connected to the 6th cell (12 volts nominal). So far I'm stuffed if I can find someone that sells them in this country!

WTF ?
Why would you want a 16volt battery ?
I remember someone used to sell a battery called "the Switch" which had like a reserve battery in it.When the main battery was flat you would flick the switch over and it had a reserve battery. Sort of like a reserve petrol tank on a motorbike.
Never heard of a 16 volt battery with 3 terminals !
Cheers

alot of drag cars run 16V batteries, as lots of them dont have alternators, they cant have a 12/14.4 or it'll drop too much voltage when running the hi power ignition and data logger ect

Simple. One terminal is at ground (-), one at +12v, one at +16v. Remember that a car battery is just a series of (roughly) 2 volt batteries joined together, so by adding another 2 cells, the voltage can be increased. A 'normal' battery has 6 cells, one of these batteries has 8. The +12v terminal is just connected betweeen cells 6 and 7
