4A-G/GZE Alternators

I've got a dead RWD 4A-G Alternator and a good 4A-GZ Alternator.
The 4A-GZ one doesn't fit into the RWD bracket as it is about 5mm too big (so I can't file it either).
Does anyone know if I can swap the cores of these two myself? or if it is even possible

John,
ze alt is completly different to the 4ac & 4age one - short answer is no.
my suggestion is just go and speak to our mutual friend who's magpie tendancies should mean he has a couple around somewhere

i've used the ge alt on my ze (the ze one died) all i had to do is make a bracket about 2 1/2" long, for the top mount to space the alt out so the charge wire didnt hit the block. but i have not tried using a ze one on the inlet side (ge). i now have put a high output 120 amp bosch one on (need it to feed the stereo). maybe you could do what i've done and just get different alt.?.
