EOI - front brake upgrade 23, 28, 40 celica Sun, 08 February 2004 08:43 Go to next message
G'day,

i am considering selling the front brake set up from my celica and am looking for expresions of interest at this stage.

they consist of corona struts, hilux 4 piston calipers, peugeot rotors. The rotors have been redrilled and not had the holes filled out as some people do and they have also had the outside machined down slightly to prevent binding on the caliper (some people file out the caliper instead).

these are engineer approved on my 1ggte ra28.
They also have lower king springs and monroe (i think, may be gabrielle... have to check).

these brakes work awesomely anr are a very worthy upgrade.

What are they worth to you?

happy to take offers on here or by pm. depending on response i will decide if i will sell

Cheers
Stew

as for wear, it has done bout 10 000 km, so like new.

Hey, id probably be kinda interested, just curious as to what master cyl. you were using with the setup?
is it for sale at all with the package?

I'd use them in my 28 if i get around to making it turbo 18R-GTE/3T-GTE, which could be not too far off, but id try and utilise my current KYB shocks..
I have king springs also, i think they are 1&1/2" lowered, do you know what height these are in particular?

I dont know really what to offer you because i dont wana offend, because im not really rolling in cash at present..

could be a keen buyer after a few more weeks work, just started a full time job 2 weeks ago, hehe

blackRA28

p.s. how much do they widen the track, if at all, of the celica's front end? did you have to get different offset front rims?

cheers

the track is the same as normal....
the struts accept celica spring and shock inserts.

mine was lower than 1 1/2.... not exactly sure, i have the suspension guy have them made up to the same height as the car was with the cut springs it had when i bought it. I know they got 2in lowered springs then reset them lower, by how much i'm not sure.

I'd put their value at well over $1000 for the complete setup, as a bolt in proposition, any lower, and you're getting a bargain. Given that you don't have Supra master cylinder to go with the package Stew, I'll let everyone know I have spare MA61 master cylinders avialable for anyone interested?!

Hi,

it probably wont be available in a couple of months.
i have another idea i'd like to play with.... but i can't go ahead if i dont sell these, so if there isn't sufficient interest (that can actually afford to buy) i will just keep them.

Cheers

i'm not sure bout the 22, i think there is a small difference in struts but am unsure.... you could try a post in the tech section.

i only stated 23, 28, 40 because i know they are the same.

Cheers

they will fit a TA22, however the setup will not be ideal. i have this setup in my TA22 and it does work. the main difference is that that strut is longer (and the spring platform further up the strut) so to fit the struts without modifying them, you will need much shorter springs. you will also need so space up the bottom of the strut so that the TA22 insert will fit. beware though that if your TA22 is lowered, combined with the longer strut, the suspension travel is significantly less. other than this, as far as i know that camber and track do not change significantly.

i know there are a lot of celicas out there with $hitty brakes, good for one stop and one stop only from 100km/h.....

Cheers

I may be interested in just the rotors and callipers. Are they slotted rotors? I already have a set of XT130 struts which I intend to shorten for my TA22.

hi,
i think from memory it was 3mm off the diameter... or 1.5mm off the radius, not 100% though.
i believe they clear when cold but when warm can bind..... i machined mine before fitting so never actually found out for myself what happens, just went off the advice of friends who had previously done the conversion.

Hey mate.Have you still got those brakes?I am pretty keen for the ta22 for it has a rotor in it and needs some more stopping power.
