Pod filter/airbox on a 7MGTE

I have a pretty much stock 7M-GTE, and I was after a good flowing airbox to suit it. It has a foam pod filter on it currently, but I don't want to attract any attention from our friendly boys in blue. Basically, I want to swap it for a nice flowing stock item. I was told the factory 5M airbox was a good match-up for it - any other suggestions? I'm also open to suggestions of chopping or hacking up factory airboxes, but only if there is any real advantage to be gained from it.
I'm not sure how viable it is for me to go back to the factory 7MGTE airbox, seeing as I'm working in the engine bay of a mk2. But if anyone knows if/how I can "persuade" it to fit, that'd be great.

Go with the 7M airbox, it will work fine with some "adapting". Don't worry about flow, modern airboxes tend to flow just as well or better than your average rice-pod.

When I went to get my pod filter, the guy quoted some astranomical figure that Toyota spent on R&D for the MA71 airbox & airflow. Upshot was that with most newish 'Yotas, the box will normally beat the pod.

What I did was purchase a K&N filter and mounted it in the stock Supra airbox. What I did before this was cut the front face off the airbox so that more air can get in from the front duct - but left the round part there which shielded it quite nicely from the engine bay.
Perhaps best to cut away only the lower half of the front face, as it will look completely stock then but give a small increase in airflow.
This mod WILL make it louder, you have been warned.
