Excessive Fuel Tank Pressure Mon, 09 February 2004 07:41 Go to next message
I've just recently completed a GZE conversion from a 4A-FC and changed to an EFI tank and I now have a problem with too much pressure building up in the fuel tank and forcing fuel out through my charcoal canister. The tank is full and it's hot so that's the obvious cause but the only way I've found that fixes it so far is to undo the filler cap and let the gasses vent. I can't exactly drive around with the filler cap loose so does anyone have another way to get the gasses out of the tank that I can use while driving?

Get a new fuel cap, or drill the smallest possible hole somewhere on top of the cap.

First find out why the standard pressure relief isnt working.

Used to have a fuel cap which did not seal properly. Every hot day I would find like 1/2 a litre of petrol around my right tire. Instead of it leaking out of the charcoal canister youll probably find it leaking out of the cap so it wont fix the problem.
