3S-GE qs (again!)

Well, I'm trying to figure something out here, and I'm not completely sure. I need to know what gen 3S-GEs were put in what cars....I've got a slight picture, but I need some clarification.
The first gen 3S-GE was in the ST162 Celica (1986->1989). They put the 3S-GTE into the ST165 Celica GT-4.
Then what happens from there? They didn't put 3S-GEs in the ST182 or ST18x, they put in the 5S-FE, but Toyota put 3S-GTEs in the ST185 (obviously). They also put 3S-GEs in the SW-20 and the 3S-GTE in the MR-2 GT of that time. Are these the Gen II 3S-GEs/GTEs?
Where would a "Gen III" 3S-GE fit in, because they didn't put a 3S-GE in the ST202 etc etc, but again, resorted to the 3S-GTE in the ST205.
I'm not sure, but did Japan have 3S-GE FWD Celicas in the form of a Celica GT (???) for the newer Celicas (1990/1994), but those didn't see the light of day down here?

FWDboy,
Hi there, I'm from Malaysia & I'm using a 3S-GE. I hope I may be able to answer yr question.
OK, you werre right about the first part; the ST16# Celica, then came the ST18# which has the 165ps 3S-GE (I'm using this engine) & after that the ST20# which has 2 versions of the 3S-GE; the 180ps & the BEAMS VVTi 200ps model & the last should be from the Altezza FR which has the 210 ps model.
Are u running a 3S too ? If so, I hope we can exchange some notes on it.
Greetings from M'sia.

Valve lifter/shim diameter increased on the Gen II 3SGTE. Possibly na too? ( I havent taken the valve cover off of my gen II to check)
I have seen 3 different Gen 1 3SGTE that destroyed 1+ valve shims each. The new cams have a larger base circle than the old ones, hopefully solving this problem.
Gen I and Gen II 3SGTE have different oil cooler designs.
Gen II 3SGE has an oil cooler under the oil filter. Gen I does not.
Gen II 3sge could also be referred to as a smallport. 'T-vis' is located 1/2 way up the intake runners.
Gen II 3SGTE has a different T-belt tensioner design.
ST150: Have you put your 3SGE on a dyno? I am curious how it compares to mine (which has wrong ecu...)

3SGTE
Gen II has 8.2mm lift in/ex, 55mm throttle body, ct26a turbo, 8.9:1 comp Gen III has 8.9mm/8.2mm lift in/ex Gen III has oil filter next to sump, gen III has ct20B turbo, 65mm throttle body, small ports, diff exhaust ports, stainless top piston rings, lower 8.5:1 comp, larger valves, 33mm in 29mm ex i think lots of diff things =]
my 3sgte makes 204hp @ wheels... gen II standard turbo 14.5psi, front mount gt4 cooler, 3" ex turbo back, K&N pod filter, 8mm leads, ngk iridum 7 plugs, JDM ecu...

ae102_3sgte,
No mate,
I've yet to run it on a dyno 'coz the area that I live in, doesn't have a dyno setup but I intend to after some upgrading soon. I've some runs with some Honda B16As & I kinda drop their jaw a little
Attached pleas find some pics of my old car.
Regards.

So did Australia just get screwed over when it came to the FWD Celica's in the early nineties? Cause I only remember seeing the 2.2 litre 5S-FE engines domestically...???

FWDBoy,
Yeap, I guess you could put it that way but look on the bright side, Malaysia's by far worse 'coz the Celica was never brought in at all by the local distributor !! All the Celicas here are brought in a "recondition" units by private importers, meaning refurbished used Japanese cars !! Think about that !!
On the lighter side, the local authorised agent's kind enough to order the parts us if we needed them which'll take about 2 weeks from Japan. I've just ordered a service kit for my power-steering pump a couple of days ago.
So OZ's not that bad after all. We have the 5S-FE in our Camrys.
So, have you seen my Frankenstein ?
Regards.

ae102_3sgte,
Well, I guess yr questions are quite similiar to mine, so my guess is as good as yrs but the the idea of building a low compression turbo engine's that you can run a higher boost; hope I'm right about this. I learnt that from my friend who's running a 500 Hp SR20DET in a Ford Escort MK II.
Regards.
