Heya All,
Well with my new job onboard it looks like over the next few weeks I'll be joining the Soarer club
So I'm in the market for a GZ10,GZ20,MZ20/1 prefereably the GZ20 or MZ20 or 21, but I'm just getting a feel for whats out there so let me know.
Stock engine would be nice, few mods ok, but again post anything up here.
Would be a bonus if it had a body kit, lowered &/or mags.
So toymodders, what have you got for sale & how much? I just need an idea of whats on the market so I can figure out how much I need to goto the bank to ask for Also if your interested in a trade for a sweet 2T-GEU powered TA23 http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=21342&start=0&rid=1883&S=fda0a5ac825 1660bc42b589707522ba7 plus a cash diff let me know...

I've got one... not the twin turbo model though... thats a GZ20 and is less powerful than the MZ.
I live on the coast but i'm happy for you to come take a look if you want (she's not for sale though)
Good luck getting a manual model! all of the MZ's came out with factory auto's

But GZ's came in auto & manual didn't they? I'm really a big fan of manual, but like I said above if its a nice car, auto would be ok. I'm looking for a nice tidy Soarer, and dont mind paying for a nice one, probably $10K is the most I want to spend, $8 would be preferable, but any good quality ones cheaper I'm open too.

Yes GZ's were available in Manual, and there were some very rare Aerotop MZ20's available with 5 speed. Good luck finding one !!
If I could do it all again, I think I would follow Danish's foot steps and get a GZ20, rip out the 1G toy and throw in a 1J. 1G's are cheaper and have much less torque, especially off boost! The 7M's are beautfully smooth, and have bucket loads of torque. Until you blow a head gasket. I know many 7M's that have been rebuilt and have no problems, but then you have the odd unlucky one (MINE! ) which was rebuilt by the book and still managed to over heat run rough etc
Best of luck with finding one mate! Beautiful cars !! Miss mine HEAPS!

I'd have to say now that my conversion is slowly being cleaned up, I am very happy with my car!
If you can find a GZ/MZ20 with a 1JZ already in it, I'd look at getting that and cleaning it up. Especially if it has an R154 gearbox in it. I can think of one that is for sale.
The only down side to the Soarer is it's weight and parts are hard to get or extremely expensive.
Ideally if I was rich, I'd import another GZ20 Soarer for wrecking and swap panels and parts over. Especially in the event of an acccident.

Hi
I own an 88 gz 20 5spd. Its pretty low spec but has all the factory electrics and fortunately for me ( in my opinion ) no TEMS@!!! I find the car to be fairly fast but it isnt really that powerful and i am definately considering a 1j or even 2j conversion in the next few years. ( if anyone has any info on either please msg me. Especially anyone in the know about a possible 2j conversion ) At a recent CCC dyno meet in Adelaide an ra23 with a 1g gte engine thats the twin turbs got 144rwkw on the dyno however that was with around 12 pounds of boost on the stock engine. Expect around 120-130 from a totally stock engine.
After owning the gz20 i would definately consider trying to buy an mz20/21 for the extra options but mostly the power, unless u are gonna do a conversion. With that in mind you might be lucky and be able to find one for sale with a manual conversion already done. I know of two in Adelaide at the moment that are for sale for probably around 8-12k. Contact Ace Jap Car Imports in Dernancourt SA on (08) 8261 7332 if you are interested.
If anyone in SA knows where to get parts for the soarer PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers andre

^^^^^^ BUMP ^^^^^^
Figureing out that seeing I'm planning on spending this much money I thought I would widen my search to include MA70's and Supras around 1988, mark iv's in general really.
So toymodders what Supras have you got n/a or turbo for sale? I'm looking for a nice clean Supra, mags, lowered & body kit preferable, but even a nice stocker would be ok. Around Sydney would be nice, but I dont mind travelling for a nice example.

Hi All,
Thanks for showing your interest and letting me know what cars you have. Sadly due to insurance a Soarer or Supra are just out of my reach. I cant get a quote for much less than $4000, and that is if they insure me at all. I've got no claims and no fines, I guess red P platers wernt destined to own Turbo cars. Maybe in the future, for now I'm going to look for a N/A MR2. Thanks for all the guys that pm'd me, especially ke.
Oh well

go with just car insurance and just get 3rd party property
My oppinion is get a gz10-mz12 soarer cause they only weigh around 1200kg and drop a 1jz into them like i am doing
They dont look as pretty or pimpin

but the weight is great!
I got quoted 650 or so for 3pp for my gz10 with 1jz gte 600 dollar stereo, few mods to the 1jz, lowered with stiffer shocks and springs and 17 inch rims with expensive rubber.

Yea I thought about that, but driving in Sydney peak hour every day, where I have to park near my gf's house. Even with a good alarm I dont want to chance it. Its a shame really cause I was very very very keen on ke's Supra, but...oh well. It's been decided, my Dad who was helping me out $$$ wise said that I had to get comprehensive insurance with whatever I bought, and seeing its not entirely my money, I cant really argue
