hey, this may sound like a silly question, on t series diff (T292), is there a difference between right and left hand axle's? and are they interchangeable?
thanks in advance, john.

Not that I easily saw in the t-series axle I pulled apart, but you may encouter problems when the teeth mesh 'in reverse' back inside the central pumpkin.

They will definitly bolt in OK.
"Supposedly" it is not a recommended thing to do though as they work harden at the shear plane of the spline. Changing axle sides reverses the load on this work hardened area and "supposedly" makes them brittle. I say supposedly because this is what I have been told and I have never bothered looking any further into it.

thanks, yeah i have heard that changing axle's weakens them a little, considering it's only a 2TG up front, i don't think that there should be too many issues with strength.
the main problem i have now is getting the bent axle out, tried putting the drum on backwards and using it for leverage and also a slide hammer both to no avail, i don't really want to pull the centre out, are there any other suggestions?

Don't worry, if you can't get the axle out, you definitly won't get the centre out.
Keep persevering with the slide hammer....get violent is need be
I am assuming that you did undo the axle retaining plate first???

Last time I had to remove a T series axle, I bashed at it for hours with a slide hammer before giving up. I was pretty pissed off by then so I chained the axle to a tractor and ripped it out that way. Yes the car got dragged for a bit but the axle came out eventually.

got it out this morning with some force, and put in the new one, went for a drive and no noises or anything, so hopefully it should be ok.
thanks for the help.
