2tg.....funny spark plugs and carbies Sun, 19 May 2002 09:18 Go to next message
pulled the spark plugs from the 2tg today and they were really black and gungy identical to the inside of an exhaust tailpipe

is this because the carby air/fuel mixture is too rich ?...im guessing it is just want to confirm

it is definatly not oil

something else thats strange is when i took it up to 7000rpm for a quick croon the other night after coming to stop at traffic lights i couldnt get the bitch to idle lower than 2000rpm eventually i just adjusted the idle speed screw but every day since then it has gone 1200rpm (3 times) and i once again adjusted it

what have i broke, or is this something to do with the plugs , that would be easier to handle i guess

damn just waiting on somebody with 2tg efi for sale

i had the same problem with my solexs, blew a bit of black smoke and just splutter when i floored it. It is too hard to tune them, i went to 3 places and none of them could get it right. someone suggested the venturis could have been loose, but i just think its the kind of carbies and how the jets work.
wierd about the idle, only thing i can think of is timing advance/vacuum or choke.
The efi is rare mate, and you will loose performance with it but definately more reliable.
