RA28 & KE70 ignition barrel interchangeable? Tue, 10 February 2004 21:46 Go to next message
Does anyone know if they are interchangeable? I'm going to be fitting a KE70/AE71 steering column to my RA28 Celica and would like if I can swap the ignition barrel's so I can keep my original key. Well I actually don't even have a key for the KE70 one so really hope I can swap em over.

Thanks!
Joel

i have a locksmith buddy who could probably supply a new barrel, keyed to whatever key you want (+ new keys with same pattern?) for a very decent price.

Oldcorollas, wouldn't mind taking you up on that generous offer. Whats required to get the ball rolling?

Cheers

Does anyone know if you have to have the key to get the barrel out?

I know you push that little tab in on the side, but from memory you need it in accessory position before it'll slide out?

pm me with the exact models of the cars key bits you have.. any numbers on the keys you want to keep (for the profile code) etc, and what it is exactly you want to achieve.
then i'll pass this on and see what he thinks is the best way to go about things and if bits swap across (good to have key catalogues Wink )

I ""think"" i had to turn the key to accessories before i pulled the ta22 one out
