Over here in NSW, especially between Sydney and Newcastle, if you get done doing stupid things like burnouts, speeding, or drink driving, and the courts/police are going to take your licence off you, you can elect to do a 7 week (one night a week) course that outlines how unsafe speeding and drink driving is ect,.... the catch is you need to do a project at the end of it. If the judge decides you tried hard enough, you dont loose your licence, and continue to drive as per normal, you dont get suspended from driving !!!!!

your friend's a bit of a dick if he gets given a second chance like that and cant be bothered doing the project :\ (a statement I'll completely retract if there are significant mitigating circumstances)

Why doesnt he actually do the project.
Something along the lines of survey a group of 100 people who have been caught speeding.
Ask them questions like : will you drive differently since you have been caught speeding.
do you think that you were a danger when you were caught speeding.
would higher fines stop you from speeding.
would higher point deductions stop you from speeding.
why did you speed
do you think that speeding tickets are more about safety or revenue raising.
get the age, and male or female...
just total it do some graphs......etc
list when and where survey was conducted.
well thats what i would do anyway.....
luv to shove the answers back into the judges face...lol.

Yeah mine was like that, also got peoples opinions if a local track was opened would it change how you drive on the street.
Got some newspaper clippings of recent car related stuff.
Wrote a letter to the newspaper proposing they look at putting a local track in the area.
Mind you the judge hated that idea! Dickhead.. It would make less people speed on the street if they had a readily avaliable track.

will you drive differently since you have been caught speeding.umm HELL NO
do you think that you were a danger when you were caught speeding.i wouldnt of been traveling at the speed if i considered it a reasonable risk to oneself or third persons considering the fact that living life itself is a calculated risk in each single acting comitted to and the act of driving dramatically elevates the risk to ones life regardless of style speed etc
would higher fines stop you from speeding.HELL NO
would higher point deductions stop you from speeding.read above
why did you speed.lack of decent public transport, frustration from being held up by inept drivers, travelling at a speed that i personally felt safe at taking into accordance traffic levels , time , weather conditions , fatigue , vehicle condition etc
do you think that speeding tickets are more about safety or revenue raising.revenue raising hence why theyre cosntantly revised at a higher level
luv to shove the answers back into the judges face...lol.(love to see whats said to the abovce response

yep, its funny to read, and we can all joke about it here, but please dont take it too far.
I mean, think about it, would you really shove it in the Judges face if you wanted your licence back ??? Or would you prefer to keep getting public transport ect....

realistically its not that funny considering its the truth of current driving conditions sydney wide and its satellite cities
and for the record if i was financially stable and able to obtain a barrister to represent oneself thats the basis of a defense id be using
