There's a cricket-like noise inside the dash of my ST162. Comes & goes, depending on engine rev/vibration. Doesn't do it without load, so I can't look for it while the car is sitting still. It sounds like a loose metal clip vibrating somewhere, but I just can't pinpoint it. Anyone had this problem before?

Mine made a similar noise,
Is it coming from the front passenger footwell??
I believe it is the airconditioning!!
Mine did it after the aircon had been running for a while. Try turning the aircon from low to full and back and it should stop. but will come back after a while.

I'm not using the aircon and it's happening. I'll see what happens if I turn it on. It also seems to come from the driver side, not the passenger side.

It's cricket like the insect. I'll try spraying with Baygon if nothing else works.

	/start sillybuggers
yes - a cat will eat the cricket ..

Or you could ask the channel 9 commentry team to shout 10 different versions of " GOT HIM YES! " at the car , and it will end the cricket ..

Or leave it out in the rain .. that stops cricket too

/end sillybuggers

leaves caught in the airboxes behind the dash? the fan hits it and annoys the fuck out of you, maybe, does it happen when you adjust fan speeds?

I found the bl**dy thing! Turned out to be coming from the engine bay, not the dash. It was easy finding it when it was doing it at standstill -- I lowered the idle speed to get the car to vibrate. The cricket-noise was generated by a teflon sheath on a re-built power steering hose. The sheath had a rubber coating which rubbed against the brake tubing. Rubber vs metal + vibration = noise. I removed the sheath (which was not required anyway) and the noise went away!
