Hey how come the engine and turbo need re- installing. Is there something wrong with it.
So Did you do the 18r conversion or it or was it all ready done. WAs there any big troubles in converting it into the corona. And how did you find the celica gearbox on bolting up.
I used to have a 80 model corona sedan the xt130. want another so i can do it up. What sort of bonnet scoupe do you have on it or. Just from the picture can see something there or is taht somethign in the back ground.

The RT Corona's all came with the R series engines... the RT104 came with the 18R, 18RC, or rarely 18RG.

yeah sorry i got confused i was thinking of the celica engines well 18rg i think i was refering to. well i nilly bought a ra40 celica and thats what it had in it. ANd dont relly know much about the other make of the coronas only the 80 which i have to learn real quick has always have little probles here and there all the time, like window thiny kepp poping th glass out and sliding down into the inside of teh door. Etc.
Well my corona had the xt130 which was the holden blue block cut down. Starfire engine. Fuck it ran well pitty about the rest of the just falling apart. WEAR AND TEAR from thrashing it all the time.
HEy i have hear of people putting a 2.6ltr izuzu engine in the old geminis and turbo'ing them and getting reasonable power how do you think it would go like in a corona. But would it be possible in doing in reguards to power to weigh ratio the DOT. dept of transport) say any can can have. LIke would it be street legal if i did it. Engineers certificate etc.

Mate the 18-rg and 18-RG are basically the same motor except for the cylinder heads naturally. In that era it was Toyota's identification codes, similar to the 2t engine ex TA22 celica. The 2t was the single cam and the 2t-g was the twin cam, either with injection or twin solex's, but i wont delve into that.
The corona was best suited with the 18r, principly due to the fact that it is the original motor so there is no need to modify engine mounts bellhousing adaptors etc etc. As for transplanting other engines into it, i usually like to stick to a general rule. I always insert an engine that is from the same manufacturer as the original. As for the allowable size....going off my engineers certificate..the calculation says weight of vehicle X 2.5. i.e 1086kg X 2.5= 2.7Litres in capacity. So yes you could legally fit an Isuzu engine into it, but the question remains, why would you want to??? The 18-R developed enough horsepower to propel the vehicle to a 12second 1/4 mile. With more engine mods, such as CC'd combustion chambers to reduce compression ratio and therefore more boost, im sure the thing would get a hell of alot closer to ten's without the cost of installing an isuzu donk. Failing that install a 1J or 1G supercharged or turbocharged etc etc. I'd stick with the toyota running gear and stay clear of the isuzu stuff, but thats just my opinion. OK thanks for that i dont really know much about the corona's as much as you seem to. REally that quick or qive or take from teh 18-r. Thats not bad. How mcuh had it cost you to turbo yours.
how much power does your car produce. How mcuh boost do you run it at.
how do you think the 1g-gte would go in a corona. So is that how they work out on what cc you are limited to. thanks

The car was originally built by the previous owner. I ran 16 PSI boost and i never actually ran it on the dyno. A friend had a TA22 Celica and installed the 1G it ran very well indeed. as for the ease of installation im unsure.
