Need Help Sat, 14 February 2004 10:25 Go to next message
Hello

Well this is my situation... I just got my P's and im after a car thats not gonna guzzle fuel, No v6/v8 please, but i wouldn't mind something decent in a automatic. and toyota is definitely the way to go for a car Cool ... Any recommendations??

Initially i was thinking of a 1986-1989 celica SX. as they have a decent amount of torque. good comfort etc.. what do u guys reckon??

All help would be most welcome Smile

best to ask whats your main goal from a 4 cyl car .. economy or fun - ?

then start from there

St162 celica - the one you mentioned is a good start for both, and are Ok as autos - not totally gutless.

outside fo that - next best bet is a 4ag twin cam corolla ( ae82 , or 92 - seca too ) Cheap and cheerful - easy to maintain but most are manuals. The autos will Struggle for " go "

if you want something less pokey but more comfortable again - An st184 Celicas a good choice .. a little higher in price - but they have all the mod cons..

if you just want a run around thats reliable - auto and slightly bigger - the camrys a good buy - but will use a bit more fuel because of its size..

Seriously though =- for the best toyotas out there - you may need to look at a manual to get the best benifits from the engines the above have .. Autos Sap ALOT of power , from a 4 cyl.

If your stuck on autos - look maybe into something like late eighties 7mge Cressida - VERY nice cars - still pokey enough , and auto's are plentiful. They are a 6 cyl though.

( what models carry the 1gge standard - corona ?)

hope that sorta helps .. without being specific
