Spotted the new corollas on the road.. A black hatch with a sportivo badge. I checked it out and witnessed that the driver was a chick?

so I go heh nah its just a sticker Laughing

Moment of truth. We turned off and I just wathced it accelerate and wow! I was impressive on how it pulled even at low speeds.

That thing really hauls! I was pointing out to my dad who was shot gun - Damm dad check out how the new corolla just pulls away and its a 30year old lady driver!

She just pulled car lengths on us. The power delivery on that thing looks like a supercharger from behind! Its just so smooth and linear it must have a close ratio gearbox?

Impressions - It left me and a magna verada v6 3.5L for dead and the magna was giving it so i took it to 5.5k where the good old 4AGE starts to make passing power and got a nose infront so I could check out where the sportivo went. At the next lights that thing just got infront by 400m's instantly as i whatched it from behind. The engine wasn't roaring it just made holes in traffic for its self!

Has anybody got one of these babies? Id sure love a 2ZZGE in my AE93 Wink

Seen a few in traffic , most with cannon's Rolling Eyes

At wakefield I was right behind a sportivo when we hit the main straight , at the end of the straight he was only about 40-50 metres infront of me. They must have a bit of weight to em.

They are the same motors as the Celica but the Celica bogs down really bad at the start... The rolla doesn't though so it's wicked and quick from take off...

I test drove one last week and hit the 6500rpm powerband in 3rd gear... That seemed so bloody quick too Smile Smile Smile ...

Yeah thats right.

The standard rolla is a VVT-i 1ZZ-FE engine.

Even that goes hard at times...

xfader: i've had my sportivo for about 1 month now.

i had a 2002 Levin manual and traded it in for a sportivo. Best thing i've ever done Smiley =

1ZZ-FE to the 2ZZ-GE dayem! Very Happy

Powerband is 6,000rpm - 8,300rpm

max power = 141kw @ 7,800 RPM

max torque = 180nm 6,800 RPM

when shifts are done correctly, the stivo can do 0-100 in under 8 secs..around 7.5 or so. and the quarter in 15 sec. this is in STOCK form.

it's a 6 spd manual too. close ratio. 220km/hr in 5th and 6th to go still! hahaha Laughing

they're great little sleepers! Very Happy

i've taken on a non turbo supra = side my side and only shifting at 7,900 (which means i drop out of lift when i change gears) but he didn't leave me and i didn't leave him.

also a 3.8 VR/VS commodore = spanked him

i can't wait to take on the new Type R. Smiley =
