DIY Panhard Rod alignment? Sun, 15 February 2004 04:57 Go to next message
Got a whiteline Panhard rod to put on my TA22. How can I get the best alignment for the rear axel? Should I roll or dive the car forward then jack it up with jack under diff, then get the bar to go on as easy as it can. ie, extend to length where it slides on smoothly?
Should there be any weight in the car when the rod's length is determined?
If it is considered that you can't do it without proper measuring tools then where is it recommended to get it done professionally?
Thankyou.

i think the car should be at the ride height when driving, as this is when you want the axle to be centrally aligned... maybe with 1/2 to full tank of fuel?

ideally the panhard rod will be near horizontal at this ride height to minimise lateral deflection during bump and rebound.

umm, maybe put the front on ramps, and the back with stands under the axle (so suspension is compressed and car is level)

you'll be wanting to check the the axle is laterally located at the correct position (maybe with reference to chassis rails?).

please feel free to coreect me if i am wrong Wink just wanted to get the ball rolling..

Cya, Stewart

have it flat on a 4 post hoist. measure the rim clearance to the outside of the guard, and, should be all good.

i'd have it with at least 1/2 tank of fuel.

Even better, with your own fat arse also in the drivers seat, if you like to be pedantic!
