Diffs and TAilshafts Fri, 09 August 2002 06:11 Go to next message
Hey all,

I would like to know what diff would fit smoothly into a KE30 corolla 4DR and also what tailshaft to go along with it. Or would i need to get a custom tailshaft made up.

Thanx everyone,
Adam

Are you looking for a stronger diff/LSD? Or just a diff to shove in there..

What type of diff and gearbox have you got in at present, are they aussie borg warner or jap as the output shaft splines are different. If you want something a bit stronger a ta22 rear axle would be ok but you will have to change the mountings and you get a 3.9 ratio instead or a 4.1 but they are an easy fit and I think from memory the tailshafts are pretty close.

You can get a 4:1 diff ratio from a TA22 i'm pretty sure, but it's rare cause it's from the auto version. Also i advise not going to the trouble of putting a TA22 rear axle assembly in your car cause when i had the stock 2T motor in my Celica i was blowing diffs every 6 months. Also the axles aren't strong enough if you want to lock the diff. i wealded mine up and i went through 3 axles in one month! Admittedly that was with 17's on, but i never did any U-turns and i hadn't even takin it on the track in that period, just street driving. So give M&A a call and get them to sort it out for you.
