alright, while the knox carpets were pretty good, as someone else found the rear carpet doesn't quite mould to the trans tunnel. (although I must say, they're very sexy carpets)

now, question: how hot does the backing have to get to remould?

or more accurately, on the 38 degree day we're expecting this friday, if I leave the car in the sun with the doors closed, will that be hot enough to allow the carpets to remould?

If you haven't already bought your moulded carpet it would be worth getting a price from a trimmer to custom make a set. I have retrimmed many cars over the years and always found the cost of trimmed carpets close to the moulded option but with much better results. The moulded carpets just never seem to fit.

i did this in the ae86 with my knox carpets

works a treat and does an OK job of remoulding the shape

not the greatest fit but works OK

1 day's rent on a heat gun set me back $15, with a $30 deposit. Definitely the way to go. You can then 'stretch' the bits you want to and 'shrink' others

Also, the front fits nicely and is a breeze to put in. BUT, it still requires a little trimming - esp. for handbrake and under the centre console/dash unit in the middle. When you do this, remember that you can see way under/behind the dash. Dunno if that makes sense, but I wish I'd known that when I did mine.

My brain is hot (35 degrees in Perth today), so I may be more helpful later.

Happy laying!

mmmm
heat gun might be the way to go.
I just want to make usre I do all the chopping in the right places Smile
the front looks like it'll be *really* easy to do... the back needs a decent bit of adjusting, and also some trimming
