With me 4 speed auto the transmission takes time to change gear. I have had one person (someone in this club) tell me if I tighten the kick down cable my transmission will shift quicker ie. no more high reving but another person (a mechanic) tell me that you have to loosen the cable to get the transmission to change quicker. WHO'S right?? Can someone tell me?

It depends on what transmission you have. If your car has ECT the "kickdown" cable adjusts line pressure only (clamping force on the clutches).
If you have an older hydraulic transmission, eg A131L tightening or taking slack out of the cable will make the engine hold on to gears longer before upshifting, and be closer to kicking down at speed.
Generally when referring to the transmission code:
H,L suffix = hydraulic shift control E suffix = ECT control
These are from memory, please feel free to add or correct.

OK so I'm going to loosen the kickdown cable this should help the transmission shift up faster, but not shift down at high speeds.
Thanks Everyone how replied to my question.
