Celica Caliper break problem Wed, 18 February 2004 09:05 Go to next message
hi Guys

Thought this would be the best place to come if i had a problem with my car, hopefully someone out there can help me with my problem, well to begin with my car is a 1987 ST162 Celica GT-R imported from Japan, anyway the problem i have is one of my front caliper's have 1 of the 2 bolts missing due to poor break service from a Car Service Garage, not going to mention the name of the Garage, and now every time i go over some kind of bump or speed bump it makes a very annoying clanking noise causing the caliper to hit the disc break, now i was wondering if anyone knew a place that sold celica break parts preferably just the bolt, and if they new the exact measurement of the bolt, there are 2 different size's i believe, the top being abit longer approx 100mm then the bottom approx 80mm, there doesn't seem to be anyone out there that can help me out with this problem, i know its abit of a long shot but if anyone can help me out with this problem, i would be greatful.

Cheers

Yeah my brakes were missing a bolt from one of the calipers on my halfcut, I just got one from a nuts and bolts place, I just took the one I did have in and he gave me a matching length and thread, sure the heads a bit bigger, but I don't really care, it works.

Hey Rob

That would be awesome if you could get the bolt off you, how much do you want for them?? and where abouts in sydney are you?? and i'd probably only be able to grab them on the weekends cause i'd be working on the weekdays, ok, to answer the question about the GT-R, well it was pretty tough to find solid evidence about this, i had no clue about it myself, but they are apparently very rare cars, not many made, probably due to the cause that the gt-4 turned out a better solution, anyway the gt-r has 4ws, a 3sgelu motor which should wack about 160 ponies (160bhp) stock, non-turbo'd, and pretty much electric everything...but i have my suspecions that my gt-r had an engine swap for a 3sge engine now..or it could still be the 3sgelu, never compared it with other st162's, also are you guys all part of the toymod's club??? i was interested in joining but never had the time or any idea on how to..so yeah if we can work something about the bolts i'm keen on getting that problem fixed!!..

Cheers

Julian

DON'T DRIVE IT!!
Please have it taken care of by anyone that knows anything about brake systems or even basic mechanics & spelling.

the life you save may be someone elses, if you don't care about your own.
