i know i need a RWD manifold (where can i get one?)but thats about it! is it a good idea to get the gearbox aswell?

Go to the Articles section,
then Engine Conversions,
then FWD to RWD 4A-GE conversion by Michael Seymour.
That should help you heaps.
As for the 100kw 4age being the best 16v, in naturally asperated I think it is. But don't forget there is also the 4agze 16v supercharged which I think is the best.
If you don't want forced induction go the 100kw 4AGE

how about the 20v..
It's newer so prolly more reliable, and has that extra bit of top end power.
It costs a shit load more though.

Some people love the 20v (ae86)and swear buy it, while others swear at it.
I think if you could find someone in your area that has a 20v sprinter and go for a drive in it, ask them how they got around the dizzy delima.

i have covered the 100kW 4age RWD conversion a number of times, but here goes again.....
****NB: there will be an article soon**
# DO NOT NEED the RWD intake manifold, since it is from a bigport version of the 4A-GE... 100kW is a smallport version. Get your 100kW manifold "cut'n'shut", which places the throttle body on the other end of the plenum and covers up where it originally was. Contact "Yellowrolla" from these forums if in sydney, and Anthony Kellam if in brisbane. You will need to increase the idle (unscrew) a bit to make the idle normal.
# You can use your sprinter gearbox no worries. Just need a spigot bearing for the 4A-GE flywheel, and a new clutch kit. I purchased the AE92 SX clutch kit, and got a different throw-out bearing which suits the T50 gearbox from the sprinter.
# You will need a wiring loom and computer (ECU). These are a piece of piss to wire up, and require only a little bit of electronics knowledge to get going. Try to find these from a private sale, since importers will charge a small mint for these.
# retain/replace the FWD water pump and water outlets, and read my conversion article on that here: http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=28710&start=0&rid=883&S=0e5a009058c2 5df234547fe97d17e5f7
# Upgrade the fuel system to enable EFI high pressure fuel supply. Most reliable way is a surge tank, lift pump and high pressure EFI pump. Lots of info on this in the forums.
# Get yourself some RWD extractors from Anthony Kellam. $260. Once engine is installed, get your 2" exhaust amde up at your local exhaust shop, and make sure to get an oxygen sensor installed just behind the extractors.
# Block off the water circulation around the throttle body with some gasket paper. This is the removable part from the bottom on the throttle body, you dont really need it in australia, just have a higher idle (1000rpm)
# Remove the engine mounts from your 4A-C out of the AE86, and put them on the 100kW 4A-GE. You will need to play around a little bit with spacers to get the throttle body support in place.
# I think thats about it. The rest is self explanitory i rekon.

The ecu uses it for non-WOT mixture control, without it, you'll get the worst fuel economy you could possibly ever imagine...

thanks for the help. some other questions:
what car/s is the 100kw from?
is the jap motor better then the aus motor?
if i was to get the motor, would a jdm t50 bolt straight into it and the body?
when i put the motor in, im doing everything at the same time so i will want an lsd. what is the best(easiest to install and will fit aftermarket LSD's) rear diff to replace the standard aus diff? does anyone have any articles about the conversion???
i currently have a 2" press bent exhaust with a cannon, this is fine for an AGE right?
thanks.
im thinking about documenting the install with pics etc then posting them up here if anyone is interested.

if you click on the link in my signature.. that takes you to the thread on my AE71 rolla. Pretty much everything is the same as for your AE86.
personally i think the cheapest LSD your going to get is a skyline or other nissan LSD (bluebird Series 3). You might have to shorten it down a little tho. Just do some research in your local self serve auto wreckers and find what is the right width and is LSD.
Ad for the box. Its been stated nearly 10000 times that the ONLY difference between an aus spec and jap spec T50 is the bellhousing. The jap housing has the clutch slave on the other side of the motor, which is not necassary if you get the extractors and clutch hose kit from anthony kellam as i did.
Your exhaust is fine. Keep it.
The 100kw came from the AE92 SX and GTi models. Jap spec of the smallport was the same.

do you mean get a whole rear diff or will just the LSD fit in the aus spec diff? im looking to put in a good las (eg kaaz) but might put in a crappy stock one until i save up for one. will that TE72 diff you put in the ae71 fit into my sprinter? what modifications are needed to the mounts etc? i am getting some really good wheels for the ae86, will the wheels still fit with this diff?? anyone got any articles??? easy or hard? any disadvantages?
thanks
