Depends.

What do YOU want. Either option is at each end of the spectrum of what you could do. Laughing

What do you mean by "get more"? Are you talking about power? Resale value? Street cred? Sikness factor? You need to be more clear when asking questions!

A collector / enthusiast will pay you more for a stock original complete 76 Celica.
A 'modder' (for want of a better term) who wants a 76 Celica with a 1JZ already fitted will pay you more.
Bbaacchhyy and Norbie have it covered, its a rhetorical question. (That should send everyone diving for their Funk and Wagnells!)
Mitch.

if you mean resale, then i would leave it stock as everyone knows that mods to cars are worth the best part of SFA when selling a car.

And still many people are modding cars.

And you know why?

because it is a hobby just like any other that is not meant to make money.

Hahaha yeah. I ment resale as well as the sickness factor. I dont really know to much about engines but I just want a nice old celica that can destroy anything out there. Especially skylines...got a score to settle. So do u think that i would get more money if i modified and sold it or left it stock and sold it?

Depends upon the buyer.
I answered this question for you before. Refer above.
Why sell it if you want a 'killer' Celica to settle the 'score' with Skylines ? Build one. Use Search and read the old posts on this forum. Don't limit yourself to 1JZ either, try a 1UZ and twin turbo it. Its been done. Nothing is impossible, it just takes more $$$.

Sikness factor?

I think he definitely means this.

Do nothing to the engine except add a pod filter. Then paint it in harlequin. Get some number plates - something like 'NIAL8U'. Purchase a full neon set and in car illumination kit. Those fluorescent dash kits are not only sik but hectic. Fit a boost guage. Spend triple the car's worth on chrome wheels and stereo system.

Many people will think you are sick.

"I know nothing about engines" and "I wanna put a 1jz in a '76 celica" are not 2 phrases that should go together, unless you have $15k+ to pay someone to do it for you.
then you'll be able to sell the car for maybe $10k, total

Interesting question. Yes to both points I believe. I'd certainly be happy to give him an ICD-10 classification, and viewing the car would be like ingesting a large dose of automotive Ipecac.

Haha, I love it.
There should be automotive Morphine - makes you trip out about cars - not the end of the world.

I reckon with a modified car, you take the amount of money you spend on it, divide by 3, and that's approx what you'll sell it for.
Keep it stock, sell it and if you want a fast car go and buy one. Modifying cars is a Waste of F**king Time and Money, but we all do it coz we love it!!

Spending all that time and effort just so your car is faster than the next blokes is a pointless endeavour. There will always be someone faster than you, accept it, move on and enjoy what you have. So many unhappy chappy's out there because they can't "beat a wrx" or "blow away skylines". I don't care if my car does or doesn't...it's the enjoyment I get from driving it that's important.

I think that if you left the car stock (restored, I assume) and sold it or modded it and sold it you wont make your money back.

Look at it from this point of view - it's a thirty year old car that was one of the 'first generation' of plastic cars, if you like.

Interior parts in good condition are hard to find, if you can.

That means custom made if you want the interior original.

Custom made = exspensive

The body's gonna need work and the suspension is probably shagged.

Even after you've done all that what are you gonna sell it for? 5 or 6g's at most probably and that's after you've spent 30 for someone else to do all the work.

Mod it and then you still have to restore it and then pay for the mods!!

If you want resale value, find a stuffed e-type jag or 2000GT (Ohh yeah, now thats what I'm talking 'bout!) and restore it for 30g's and sell it for 100000.

Thats my long way of saying, old celicas have little resale value so you won't make any money selling it stock or modded.

Either way, I still love my '76!
