Hey everyone,
well im just about to put a 4age bigport in my sprinter, and i need a little advice on the wiring. Confused
I have an uncut engine loom out of an ae82 twincam, which has 10pin and 18pin sockets for the ecu, and the 14pin plug which was cut off the dash loom.
How do i go about wiring up the 14pin plug into the engine loom?
I have been reading the pin out identifications and i know what most the 7 wires on it are for, but im still sorta lost especially when it comes to wiring..
Does anyone know how i can wire it up?

any help is much appreciated. Very Happy

cheers
Ryan

That 14 pin plug doesn't really wire into the engine loom, thats why it isn't part of it..

It's for power, circuit open relay, and things like AC and gauges etc.. Most the wires are not used.

when u say power does that mean, constant power for lets say memory? or just acc power?
Is the circuit open relay the little black box that came with the ecu?
What is it used for? i dont have the plug for it..

I hate wiring its making me stressed, as i have a perfectly good engine but little idea of how to wire it up! Confused

How much do u think a sparky would charge me to hook it all up?

hey ryan...

its not that hard... its not piss easy, but its easyier than what you are thinking....

you need to know these wires Start signal, which is te black and white wires coming out of the ignition switch

and the ON signal which is the black and yellow wire....

its hard to explain over the net, mines still not completly covered in tape yet so if you want to look at mine give me a call and you can come over and have a look.. i can tell you which exact wires go where as i've just finished mine started up nicely... on the second go...

this is what i did to get a proper 100kw wiring diagram

i went to the local libary, that has got the corrolla ae92 models, in the back there is a wiring diagram for the 4age, i photocopied that, that tells you which wires go where and exactly were they go...., its quite easy to read....

you won't be able to tell jack all from a photo of the wiring as, wiring does go into the cabin and you can tell which is which by a photo

wiring is actually really simple, since all you have to do is connect a wire here and a wire there.

you need to sit down with the wiring diagram for the motor, and one for the car, and work out what needs to go where..

do it all logically and methodically and write everything down.

if you 'have a go' then get a sparky to sort out your mess, it will cost you 3 or 4 times as much, since it is easy to do from the beginning, but hard to work out what someone else has done Wink

if you are concerned, i'd be PMing Sideshow Wink at least he has done it before and knows what goes where Very Happy

i'll have a go. ( inaccurate then accurate data )

I have everything here. Checking now.

piss easy huh ? looks like about 50 connectors there.

i have the chevy nova " chilton's "
and i'll run down what's here... it's prolly close.

gives specs for
1992 VIN code 5 ... ( close enough )

engine controls

oh.... you don't really need these ones....
which ones,,,, checking ....

engine controls ignition

blk/red 4 rpm signal input c2
blk/yel 3 ignition firing output c2
blk/red 1 ignition on signal C1
"" 7 C1

here
ecm ident
c1 12 cavaties
c2 26
c3 16
igniter ident
c1 6
c2 2

so we want ...

never mind

ooohhh i found it....
ha ha ha ha

as to the above.... the computers are different... moving on...

the 14 one right ?
don't worry man i've got it all.

labelled 14p

oh fuck did i fuck that up...
i'm lookin' at the wrong end....

from here on it's accurate

______ooooooo_______
L3 L1 VC VS THA BAT +B
ECT L2 E21 STP SPD / +B1

this shows the plug (male) pinouts
the bump (to secure) is on top....

/ is enpty
L3 from ect computer (MAP?) Y-R
L2 "" Y-G
L1 "" Y-L
VC L-R
VS Y-L
THA Y
BAT from "stop" fuse R-L
ECT from cruiz control input P ( also ect comp )
E21 BR water thermo sensor / throttle position
STP G-W to ECT computer
SPD V-W to speed sensor ..
+B
+B1

so what's this ect computer
and again.... i got mixed up ... it happens....

no worries

so putting it all together ....

one to battery (BAT)
one to ignition signal (STP?)
and one to start signal
and one to earth

o.k.
so now i'm confused.
what plugs into the 14 plug, and what plugs into the 14 socket on the computer? Nothing ? i does not get used....
