hi all
i'm new to the list but i was hoping someone could tell me what 5 - speeds bolt up to the engine in my 1980 corolla coupe??
would a five speed out of a 4-door ke55 be the only option?? what about the KE70 5-speeds, do they fit??
will i need a different tail shaft??
any tips or ideas from anyone who has done this before would be much appreciated.
cheers,
Mark

the KE7o has a different shaped extension housing, BUT, if you have one, you can change the extension housing AND shift rods from the KE55 one to the KE70 one. or just swap the gear internals into the KE55 housing.
KE30 and KE55 are a direct swap, since they are effectively exactly the same car.

i used a ke70 5 speed in my ke55 and had to use a different gearbox crossmember.
i highly recommend using the ke55 5 speed...mine was a PITA i ended up using a ke20 crossmember and crush tube!
