RA45Celica used to have a TE27 that did 15's. It was even in Fast Fours when it was a decent magazine (circa 10-12 years ago). Ask him.

With my car (TE37) I had a standard 1588cc 2T-G with low compression and did 17sec with the G-tech. I am guessing for 15sec you just need a 2T-G in good health, maybe mild cams. 3T bottom end would help, and light flywheel. It would not take much realy.
To do less than 14sec with a 2T-G you would realy have to start working over the motor. 2000cc, 45mm Webbers. Big cams, light flywheel. Good tyres. Everything dialed in right, high rpm.

thanks for that, i got an 18rg in my celica and it only pulls hard to 6700 or so b4 power dies... The timing chain is soo slack it rattles on startup until oil covers it (5 secs) Would changing the chain help much? where do you get them?
Thsnks. (springs are prob ok till 7300, just no power after 6300.

What casting do you have? big #s on front of head.
also what is the serial numbers, they are stamped into a small tab that sticks out on the valve cover surface front left on early heads and front right on later ones.
Are your carbs stock? any Ex? it helps

I believe thats the oil operated chain tensioner waiting to be 'tensioned' When oil pressure builds up it causes the chain tensioner on the side to pull it out. I didn't think that was a problem as it was a design feature. My 2TGEU only does it on a very rare occasion. So If the engine is old - i wouldn't worry too much about it.

The cars are running out of air you might try changing the venturis in the carbs open them up and re size the jets to match the air flow. My car would run strong until 6500-7000 then plateau out on the power like it hit a flat spot. I eventually ended up taking out the large venturis and rejetted the carbs it will now pull all the way to 8000 If I stayed in it that long I usually shift out about 7500 when driving hard. Still runs on the bottom and around town doesn't do much for milage though. The carbs are 44mm mikunis and the engine is a 2tg. The ports have been matched and it is running a 304/288 cam set up with headers and a 2.25 in exhaust.
