ST185 GT4 - Cruise Control? Fri, 20 February 2004 01:57 Go to next message
Anyone know if the ST185 celica GT4s came with cruise control?

If not, can they be installed easily and reliably, with no dodgy magnet-on-the-driveshaft installs?

Anyone done this?

Cheers

Nick

Cool thanks grega.

I can get a good one installed for around the $400 mark, electronic cruise control.

Anyone had any experience with these?
Think is this an appropriate price for a good install?

Hey Physh,

Who priced you $400?

I am looking for cruise for my car also. If that is for the electronic interface and installation, I think it is a good price.

Years ago I got one of those crappy units from Autobarn with the magnets and had someone fit it. About $200 for the unit and $200 for fitting (onsite).

In describing it as crappy, it worked OK except where the installer was careless with the layout of the cable. On 3/4 - full throttle, there was enough play to catch the cable around some part and hold it there. So when you came off the accelerator and changed gear the thing would blow red-line. Mods on my part rectified that though.

Cheers.

Haven't got a written quote yet, but friend who works at an autoelectrics mob said probably around the $400.

I'm pretty sure that was installed, but if the dodgyass one cost you $200 + install, then i'm thinking it's likely to be more. Sad

Some GT4s did come with cruise control but not many. An easy option would be to get one of these or maybe another option is to see if the MR2 imports are the same ( I belive would be ) and install one of these.
