Surge tank/efi questions

G'day all,
Does anyone have any pics or specs on their surge tank they used for their 1ggte conversion into an old school celica, ie. what size attachments, and how many, capacity etc. Also, has anyone got any pics of their actual fueling setup, this will be my first engine conversion, and haven't found much info on the actual fueling side of things for this conversion.
Cheers, Matt

i have a ra28, i bought a pre pump and an efi pump and a surge tank. all you do is run a line from the tank to the pre pump and from that to the surge tank.
from teh surge tank run a line through the efi pump to the engine. them run a return from the motor to the surge and a return from the surge to the fuel tank.
i'm pretty sure i used 3/8 fittings.
i'll email you a diagram i just made

If you have an RA23, I've found a surge tank isn't necessary at all. If you have an RA28 I'd suggest you don't dick around with surge tanks and multiple pumps; just get your tank modified to take an in-tank pump. Much neater and easier!

Cost wise, which would be better? I'm assuming that i'd need to take the car/tank somewhere to get a intank pump fitted?

well installing the Surge tank and pre-pump took me around 30mins in actual labor. Considering hte TA22 fuel tank hasn't got an in-tank pump, this was much easier then getting someone to modify my main tank.

Thanks for the info, cheers for the suggestion norbie, but i'll probably use a pre pump, surge tank etc. Seems to be the easiest way in my situation. Right now, i'm just sorting out my parts list, have everything ready before I take her off the road.

hate to but in, but
so don't
i hate starting new threads... hijack a old thread... recycle
i have a extremely large fuel filter, i suppose that could "double" as a form of surge tank.
the fuel filter is off a bus, a real bus.
still smell the diesel....
better not f'n drip on me...
coach ...
not bus ,,,
coach...
is it coach or bus there ,,,
has water draining plug...
coach guard
p/n 09-05-1033
MCI proprietary ( my bro works there )
i'll spec out a replacement filter...can't use a diesel soaked filter. it's about a 1 L filter.
anyway....looks expensive, maybe my bro can steal .. wewrr ummm
find a extra new filter too.
so there ya go.... possibly fit a super large filter off a truck of bus ?
i know iknow.... i smoke ...more than you would imagine.

not yet.
just getting all the parts together for a smooth conversion.
i've been thinking about it..
oh yeah i have the N.A. nova ae82 4ac carb.
and it seems to me a cheap pump by the tank in the rear,
then have the filter under the bonnet (ya'll call it that right )
,and another high pressure pump to feed the injectors.
just use your head a bit.
once installed, i would have to burn through a L of petrol
before any lag, and that, can't see it happening.
the suggested method is to use a over-flow type system, where over-flow is fed back into the filter, but this seems unnecessary for most cars.
thinking.... have the large 1 L fuel filter feeding the second
high pressure pump
done and done
