EOI: Simmons 16" alloys for AE86 Sun, 22 February 2004 08:17 Go to next message
Hi all,

Due to recently abandoning plans to do up my Sprinter, I am looking to sell a set of Simmons wheels I have for it.

I believe the model code is Simmons F16, there are two 16x7s for the front and two 16x8s for the rear, all in excellent condition. I've never actually had rubber on them myself, but have fitted the bare wheels onto my sprinter and the offset is perfect (though you may need to roll the guards!)

Chasing offers around $1K mark. I'd rather not ship interstate due to the potential for damage in transit, but it is a possibility I guess.

G'day,

Not sure what the offset is numerically sorry! Though I suspect its not quite ideal for an RA28, ideal AE86 offset is pretty much unique to itself. However, a mate of mine over here has an RA28 - funnily enough running the same type of rims - so if there isn't much local interest I can see about checking the offset of these rims on his car!

ive got those exact ones on my ae86, though couldn't say about offset cos mine is a little different to standard due to hilux diff and different struts.

They do scrape a bit though being 16's on an ae86...

EOI: Simmons 16" alloys for AE86 *SOLD* Tue, 24 February 2004 13:12 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Just letting everyone know that these have now been SOLD. They are going to a rather good home - a local Perth guy doing a 3S-GTE Sprinter conversion.

Thanks to all who enquired Smile

Argh, well the sale of the rims fell through Mad so they're on the market again. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

(The buyer was concerned that they wouldn't fit under the sprinter guards, though his reference was with a 245 tyre. 225/40R16s should fit I reckon. Might also be good on an RA28, etc)

OK, I just went and measured and according to my vernier...

The outer hoops have about 55 and 45mm of dish out from the centres on the 8" wide and 7" wide rims respectively. Distance from the inside of centres to the outside of the hoops (perpendicular distance, like offset?) is 85 and 75mm for the 8" and 7" rims respectively.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Still available Razz *bump*

Maybe I should just keep them until I've got the money to get another 86..

iff you want to know what the offset is have a look inside the rim and you will see a number written next to pcd. they probably have a rwd offset around the 5 mark.

Yeah that's where I thought it'd be, but for some reason these ones haven't been stamped with the PCD or the offset inside the rim, it's just blank next to the "PCD" text. (Or maybe it was once on a sticker which fell off... all four of them!)

There's "901" and "943" stamped inside on the front and back rims though, if that means anything to anyone..

[FOR SALE]: Simmons 16" alloys, 4on114 stud, $800 Thu, 01 April 2004 15:30 Go to previous messageGo to next message
BUMP and price drop (gotta get rid of these things!), now asking $800. C'mon, that'd only buy you ONE of these things brand new!

Also I'll get pictures of each rim individually this weekend and get them online FYI...

Hi mate

These dont come with rubber do they?? Anyway, i believe it is quite cheap to post them with Aus Post and if wrapped in bubble wrap they are quite safe. I am very keen and will measure up tonight. Any marks on any wheels?? Let me know buddy.

I'm VERY interested - and in PERTH. If you can confirm an offset for these little beaut's, you may just have yerself a buyer! Maybe drop them into a tyre/wheel shop (Mr. Mags) and see if they will help? Or call a Simmons agent in WA?

If the offset is good for my MA61, I'll buy!

CHEERS,

JUSTIN

I would just like to add to this.

I have personally seen these wheels as I wanted them for my sprinter and while they would have fit (with some rear guard work) they would be about perfect for an RA28 or maybe a MA61.

Shocked And 800 bucks is an absolute steal. Shocked

Good luck with the sale anyway.

Hi all,

Right, I've got a few more pics of the rims up on the 'net now, showing all four of them together - bandwidth warning: they're pretty big images:

http://www.focal.net.au/Simmons/simmons1.jpg
http://www.focal.net.au/Simmons/simmons2.jpg
http://www.focal.net.au/Simmons/simmons3.jpg

Gabe: Thanks for the plug Smile It occured to me that we could probably get some narrower hoops (eg 6") for the pair of 8" rims and put them on the front, then use the 7"s on the back.. but I daresay the hoops alone would be a couple of hundred each so probably not worth it!

Justin: If you are interested, I could just bring the rims around sometime over the weekend and we could test-fit to check the offset - feel free to give me a buzz anytime on 0419 197 949 to discuss it.

QIK: Yeah they are without rubber (as per picture). Australia Post have a 20kg parcel limit from memory, but I could send them in two lots I suppose. Not sure if a freight company would be cheaper? There are a few little scuff marks on one of the rear rims, you can probably make them out in the pics above, but other than that they're in good nick.
