1JZ-GTE half-cut for sale

sigh, unfinished project.. not happy about having to sell this but you know how it is, things come up and you need the money.
anyway its a '91~ 1JZ-GTE full halfcut, minus the radiator & intercooler is bent a bit.
92,000ks' on the clock
5 speed manual
I bought it two weeks ago from Asian Auto Spares in brisbane
I never even got to take the engine out, I think the only thing I took off it was the air filter, which I have sitting in the shed in the box i was putting all the screws in.
$3800 - i'll even throw in a brand new (still in box) autometer boost gauge, silver face one. and maybe a turbo timer (still in box) if im feeling generous.
stuck with the v8 now

also, heres a pic of the still un-opened boost gauge and turbo timer that i'll no longer be requiring.
I'm still going to install the air:fuel ratio & monster tacho though, for that bit of added bling.

I'm not 100% sure but i'd say it's the Soarer 1jz.....I believe the cam cover is a bit different and looking at the actual bay, reminds more of a soarer then a supra. But then again not sure... just thought i'd have a stab at it .

no worries teg.
if you change your mind ill offer $50 plus postage for it.
not much of a hassle to take off, im only interested in the cylinder not the booster so it should only be 4 nuts and 2 lines to take off.
good luck with the sale,

Bullshit, asian auto are the dirtiest fucks ive ever dealt with.
Did they show you the results, or did they turn the key and the motor cranked a little so all must be good.
There goods are damaged, more then what you see on the surface.
I know a few people who have dealt with them and their scum, ripoffs and you very rarely get your money back.
I can give a contact number of someone who has dealt with them, if you need more info.
teq- im sure your a top bloke, but i needed to say what i said.

uh, no. for $2k I would rather keep it as a garden decoration, I'm not about to throw $2k (two plus two is four..) down the drain
and FYI, I know of people who have now got very quick supras after buying 1jz halfcuts from asian auto spares.
just because your mate bought a shit box doesn't mean that 100% of everything they sell are shitboxes, I say bad luck to him.
I know of at least 2 people who are quite happy with the ones they have purchased from there.

The fact that is is a '91, has popup headlights, a Supra intercooler, is in a Supra half cut, tells me that it is a Supra ![Smile](images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif)
Lots of other little things like the power steering reservior, etc, are different.
It also appears that it may be the 'R' model... as far as I can see there is no cruise control and it looks to have no TEMS on it...

um, I dont pretend to know too much about toyotas, but if the ma70 is just a non turbo version of the jz70 supra, then more than likely it will be just a straight conversion, you may however require a new exhaust.. etc

hmm amd i spose the radiator and other bits around it will be pretty hard to get?
would it be easier to just buy a different half cut?
would the front end damage have caused damage to the motor?

Nope. Most import places will have one or two kicking around from the half-cuts they bring in to wreck. And people have lots of bits'n'pieces left over from fully dressed half cuts for sale. I'd be checking the crossmember isn't bent, and that the gearbox is in the right position and uncracked (ie not shunted backwards).
These Supras are pretty damn strong, and it'd have be BIG hit to cause much serious damage.
Of course..you could always buy my jza70 front panels/bumber etc if you like (MASSIVE THREAD HI-JACK )

im keen on this motor, but just a few things
you say they have tested it, with what radiator etc was in there? why didnt they just leave what ever was in there when you bought it?
has it had a compression check? if so some figures would be nice.
does it have struts/panels etc ?

$3500 is a reasonable price for a manual 1j,
this guy is trying to sell something, there is no need to carry on about asain autos in this forum as it will hurt his chances of selling his half cut.
i know what you are saying FKN16V, as i know trent.
Asains tried to screw me over too, selling me a half cut with a f*&ked box and radiator, and i know of from this importer 3 shit engines 4 shit radiators, 8 stuffed turbos, 3 stuffed auto boxes.
but this is not the area to talk about it. it should be in the general section of the forums.
teq i suggest you start a new thread for your sale.
good luck
and best regards
shane.
