I was wondering how difficult it was to put a [MR2] generation 2 3SGE engine into a 1986 SX celica? Would my factory g-box be ok? does the engine just drop straight into the car or would i have to do some modifications to the engine bay? Obviously i would need a heavy duty clutch for the extra power.
Regards, Any Info is appreciated

Nahhh man we were looking at this for a friends car, it a straight swap, just drops in if you want you can even use your original loom and ECU, The only thing I an not sure on (cause we never got round to it) is you may need to use the gen1 intake manifold, someone said they did the swap using the gen2 manifold, but another friend did it and the mechanic who did it used the gen1 intake manifold, may have something to do with the throttle body size. You could use yur original gearbox fine, just note ST162 boxes are pretty weak, they have a habbit of shitting the second gear syncro, I would probably try the other box (i think it's an S54) thats what came with the mr2 (with backward linkages) the ST184 celica and the SV21 Camry. I don't know if youd need a Heavy duty clutch, a standard MR2 clutch would work fine, but that is a chioce you can make.

Hi, im not getting the 3sge for 600 i have another one. Going by the specs, the torque increase and power increase makes it a very worthwhile swap, thanx for the help guys .
GEN1 3SGE (Celica st162)= 103kw@6000rpm & 172nm@4800rpm
GEN2 3SGE (MR2 1990-1995)= 117kw@6800rpm & 190nm@4800rpm
