i think the moderators should be banned from locking/deleteing stuff in the outhouse unless its offensive to race/gender blah blah blah, stuff like the toymods thread shouldnt be, its not wasting space/time ect it took more effort to lock it than to read it

Yes, but not mindless and waaaay too excessive.
Which is what this has become in some ways im afraid.
Quote: | bandwidth comes and goes, its not tangable, stupid shit only comes along every-so-ofted,

It is more the fact that all this useless crap and dribble remains on OUR SERVER, which is purchased by the TOYMODS CAR CLUB and thus costs money and time and the services of a very charitable man known only as "Sam".
I understand where you are all coming from, but please....
.....whore in moderation.

Yeah but WITZL, that thread would have died and gotten buried, instead you made the t o y m o d s joke spread to other, less stupid threads.
Stupid isn't dangerous as long as it has a place to run it's course. Let it out and it can be all kinda of trouble.

it appears everyone has got very hot under the collar about post whoring all of a sudden.
see, the toymods thing is dead. in the space of about 3 days, the big hit and then some little dribble spilling over into a few days later. no need to start getting worked up about that. it was funny at the time.
i enjoy these forums as much as anyone else. i use it mostly for its intended purpose- car related discussion and tech stuff etc....
but every now and again it seems a few people forget it is just a forum... hence i don't see it unreasonable to have a bit of fun every now and again. in the appropriate sections, and all in moderation
im not saying that anyone condones a bit of fun and sillyness, and i can understand much concern if every second thread was just utter shit- and admittedly my toymods thread was. however it was locked and the joke flared up one night, then died. end of story, no more waste of bandwidth, time or whatever else it wasted.
a lot of the posts that have been floating around now, such as the ones made my untouchable, in my opinion, are quite good. because, they are a bit more personal, and people like hearing and telling stories like that. i guess it makes a bit more character building- putting personalites to names and avatars- (if you can build character on a forum ) so if/when a lot of people meet on the toymods cruises or events, everyone may have a little bit more to talk about than just cars, because i know for a fact that gets fucking boring after a while.
i've had my rant-
my bottom line is remember its a forum. i respect the need for a professional and informative image and site etc, but, it is the outhouse. all cars and no play makes toymods a dull forum.
im not saying make the outhouse into a useless dribble forum-
just remember that a few laughs and sillys doesnt hurt.
if anyone, particularly the mods, have some problem with me or something ive said, let me know- i dont want to wake up one morning and be banned out of nowhere.
congrats if you read all that

There was life before The Outhouse. I don't think it was particularly dull, and there are plenty of people who've been around long enough to agree with me. The Outhouse was created to clean up the forums, not to clutter it up.

That is what it's started to become though.

|
No-one's going to get "banned out of nowhere" least of all for putting forward an opinion/question in the way you have. People are rarely banned on these forums and it's not something that's done lightly.

|
In a way we pay for the forum through advertising though. I don't see any harm in being silly now and then. Like I said, by locking the thread the joke spilled over into many other threads and we have spend this whole thread discussing it. If the thread had been left open, then there would have been perhaps 10 more posts on the matter before it got old and boring and it woulda died. Instead it's living on and on and on and on.

FFS pull your head in
and dont you dare start bringing this crap into the tech section !
|
i think you misunderstood me ed...
i dont and do not wish to turn the outhouse into innane dribble... ive added my useless toymods thread, and then a poll about which of the two big threads would last the longest... its not really that stupid, just a matter of interest.
if you seriously think i am one of the people who is "destroying" the outhouse, then i think there you'll find there are others whom do more damage to the forums, via personal attacks and actually pretending to flaunt knowledge they don't have. certainly more of a pain in the arse than just a bit of fun.
you know how i make a sensible contribution forum- as you will know by my constant questions in tech and help out whenever i can in general, and all the other forums. if you really feel im that much of a goon, then fine. i use this forum to learn about cars and read about others experiences with cars. i respected the help you and others more experienced have given me. i don't appreciate you saying all i do is clog the forums up with shit, when you know very well i use it properly. you would be able to understand where im coming from, right?
i remember posting once in a funny tech thread- and i also remembering that thread going down like a bag of shit with about 6 replies. the end.
gotta go, will continue rant later

like i said, feel free to be clowns, and if you can justify to yourselves writing 5 page long posts about absolutely nothing at all, go right ahead...
contrary to popular belief the website isnt here for your exclusive use to run roit acting like immature tools. its PRIMARY AIM is to help distribute tech information and general car info. the outhouse was created for the sole purpose of keeping off topic crap out of the tech and general sections -THIS DOES NOT MEAN that it is place to deliberately generate fuckloads of useless SHIT just for the sake of it.
and THEN you lot have the balls to complain about it being closed, and then SPAM the rest of the site cause you wanna keep being clowns.
im not trying to be an absolute killjoy, but theres a limit to everything, and you guys have found it.
and yes, youre right, there are other issues afoot right now re: personal attacks and offesive stuff, and yes im getting stuck into that too.

okay, thats fair enough ed-
but surely you cannot say that this whole demsise of the forums can be attributed to the t o y m o d s ! thing, right? its not like we were "discracing the club" or anything like that. and i cant say me and people like untouchable, shraka, robst162 and bassaholic and so on often post crap. it all happened over one night kinda thing. im sure if you looked at ratio "worthwhile : useless" posts, we'd all stand up alright.
i have no problem with you or anyone else. i find it hard to have a problem with anyone on a forum, of any kind. i can understand what you are saying, and yes, ill think twice about starting another nonsense phenomemon. i'd like to think that you won't condone us for just dribbling some nonsense all about and we can put this behind us.
cheers everyone

nope, not saying that at all... but it has certainly contributed.
t o y m o d s !, its sister threads, and the general bullshit nature of so many posts throughout the place have gotten way out of hand of late, and its turning people away from the forums.
the outhouse, as i said, IS NOT a place where you have the god given right to generate threads whose SOLE purpose is to spam. funny, curious, off topic DISCUSSION, yes, by all means.

threads like this are a perfect example of what toymods and the outhouse section DO NOT need
all threads like this will be locked or deleted
persons creating and encouraging such threads will be warned and if necessary... banned... or if the case warrants banned without warning
keep your discussions within the toymods rules and the rules for each section
also ensure your posts add to the discussion at hand
bring your comments to a toymods meeting if you wish but the toymods forums are not a democracy... they are run by the board of the car club on behalf of its financial members
if you dont like the rules then leave
there will be no tolerance
