3T-GTE Workshop Manual Tue, 24 February 2004 02:48 Go to next message
Does anyone know where I can find something like an engine workshop manual for a 3T-GTE?

Does anything like this exist?

Is there a similar toyota engine that could be used as a good guide?

I was also thinking of the Workshop Manual for vehicles originally fitted with the 3T-GTE, but was wondering if that would have enough details on the engine specifics I am after.

In particular, I am wanting to find out details on:
- Clearances
- Timing Chain adjustment
- Any good tips, tricks & best practices
- General trouble shooting guide

When I built mine I used a Toyota manual that covered 2t(g) & 3t(g) from memory.

I recently purchased a 3s-gte manual though from a friend who works at Toyota in NZ, was only $80 or so. I could ask if he can get the 3t-gte one?

Yeah, if you could find out if he can get one, & how much for, that would be great. Very Happy

Thanks for your help.

Hi Toof,

I will try looking into this e-bay option also.

I have sent of an e-mail to a mob called flexmotorsport that does .pdf versions of workshop manuals to see if they have something for the 3T-GTE

I will send a post to this thread if I have any success.

The 3T-GTE was only ever sold in Japan, so the full engine manual is only in Japanese. It won't bem uch help to you. From memory the timing is set to 12 BTDC from the factory, there is a notch in the pullet that shows this mark so you can't go wrong.
Standard boost is 6.9psi, the fuel enrichment is set for just over 2 psi and the vacuum switch for the knock ocntrol unit is to ensure that the unit doesn't operate under vacuum or cruising conditions. Cam timing is set the same as the 2TG, have to check the valve clearance but I think they are the same as the 2TG as well.
Best thing is to use the 2TG manual which you could still buy new from Toyota last time I checked.
I also have the full factory wiring diagram for the 3T GTE as well. Its on my site together with some other info that may be useful to you.

Cheers,
Simon
