But imagine trying to get parts for it? On this same subject, has anyone got any pics or info on the twin-cam 3K that Toyota made? I know they made some, but I haven't even seen a pic of one anywhere.

much of a muchness really the 2TG was the younger brother of the 4AGE anyways.....so a 16v 2TG really would just be a 4AG anyway.
the thing the 4AGE has on the 2TG is its not as old...

I just recieed some more 16v 2tg/18rg pictures if anyone is interested. Also pics of the TTE rally team of the 70's, with the celicas and TE27 corolla. They used the TE27 corolla right up to 1977, but never used the TE37 corolla which has made a impact in the popularity difference of the 2 cars I think. The corollas where better than the celicas, but they had to use the Celicas for marketing reasons.

this is a fact - though they swapped over to the corolla i believe because the celicas were a bit heavy and underpowered in tte's oppinion - SOOOO they whacked the 2tg and celica drivetrain in the corolla - badged it levin - and started to clean up - the smaller lighter car was much more nimble than the celica - and still had as much power to play with - a good choice there by toyota

Those 18RG pics looked very familiar - They're actually the ones that I took on one of my trips to Toysport in Los Angeles. I wonder how they ended up on that site? Ah well, they're at a good home i guess.
I'm still after anything at all on the twin-cam 3K's though.

Yes, on my page as well. Also a few other pictures in this rally book I have not yet scaned. Including one on the dyno with turbo glowing red. Its basicaly a 3T-GTE to look at, but different manifolds and turbo of course. And I think they had made it a 2.2 litre or something.
Are those photos above working for everyone? They are out of the rally book, not from Bill. Maybe the top chrome cover pic is from Bill.

I've seen a 4K-E before, in New Zealand. It was the unwitting donor for the new corner of my Starlet when I had to fix mine after the shunt. Got some photos of it, and they're on Matti's site somewhere.

A few years ago a guy I knew found a 4TGTE in a wreckers somewhere in Melbourne. They didn't have the money at the time though, and the went back a few months later and it was sold

Justcallmefrank,
Don't shit stir
To compare a purely purpose build race engine of TTE's to a 4AGE is not a fair comparison in anyones language ! Those 16V 2TG's were so far modified from a standard 2TG that I would be surprised if more than 10% of the parts were interchangeable.

The pictures are not working for me.
I get a little red X and what appears to be an address. I cannot copy this address or click on it.
Johnny, do you have the ISDN number on the back of that rally book? Title and author?
I am guessing it may be a bit tough to find, but I was looking for something with some older stuff in it.

No, the links don't work for me either, thats just Geocities. I will have another go to fix it.
The good rally book is "Rally Cars", by Reinhard Klein.
ISBN 3-8290-4625-1
And I'm told it was $75.
