	| 2jz-ge in MX-73 | Thu, 26 February 2004 14:21 | | |
	| Hey guys as i have just purchased MX-73 and find the 5M-E to be well a little HEAVY on fuel with NO perfomance im wanting to know how in depth converting the 5M-E to a 2JZ-GE will be??
Still retain the auto from the 2J..
Is it worth it? i thing yes as i like N/A

Has anyone done this conversion (1JZ/2JZ)???

is it just the usual custom mounts or would you have to massage the firewall??

 Just some ideas would help

 Cheers
 Richard

	| Have a chat to BlackSupra, he's put one in his MA61. I imagine it would be a very similar process in an MX73.
If you want an NA engine, I'd be looking at something with a bit more poke... 1UZ-FE for example! If you're going to all that effort, why not make it worthwhile?

	| I dropped one into an MX23. It's pretty straight forward. Certainly transformed the car. | |

Hehe Anyways, the 2J slotted straight into the MA61 no worries, again it transformed the car, a massive improvement even over a 6MGE that was in my previous MA61.

Fuel consumption is awesome but its not like that was a major factor, hell i drive a supra, if i wanted to use no petrol id buy a corolla. At a rough guess driving hard around the city about 200km to 25L, which is about 12.5L/100km. Its really good on the freeway as well.

No need to massage the firewall, plenty of 1J's running around in MX73's.

Do yourself a favour.....convert it to manual, it will be ALOT more enjoyable to drive with peak power at 6500rpm and peak torque at 4800rpm its a motor you have to rev and have to drive to get the best out of it. N/A JZA80 autos are totally uninspiring.

And the new power was nice, but now im searching for more, so it really depends hat your after, a nice cruiser or a balls to the wall performer. Im stuck in between.

 Here is my conversion site:

EDIT: The still have potential, much like a 1UZ, Gianttomato pulled 146rwkw with a motec ITB's and extractors + exhaust. I pulled 122rwkw with an exhaust and pod filter. A 1UZ on the same day pulled 125rwkw for comparison sake.
