'Dust cap" on TA22 tailshaft screaming.... Fri, 27 February 2004 01:16 Go to next message
Hi everybody,

I have a W57 in my TA22...I also have a tail shaft that has a 'dust cap'
style plate that fits in to the back of the W57 around the shaft of the tail shaft it is supposed to be solidly attached to the tail shaft (I hope
you know what I mean) anyway, this has come loose and when I drive sometimes
it screams it's brains out.....Clint it's even worse than my diff. Would it
cause any hassles if I took this off?

Regards

Daniel

Or personally, I'd take the tailshaft out, line the dust cap back up to the gearbox, place a length of soft timber (pine is good), and tap it back on - it's only a interference fit, so easily done. Your gearbox is a W55 by the way, too! Aside from that and the screaming diff, how is my five day construction baby to get you to the church on time, doing?!?
