	| FAQ: 4A-GZE pistons, forged or not? ANSWER = yes | Fri, 27 February 2004 17:21 | | |
	| THe following is the result of some internet searching, and hard evidence research conducted by a higly qualified metallurist and electron microscope specialist. ------------------------------------------

Are the 4A-GZE factory pistons produced by toyota forged?
Some say that they are "semi-forged", some say they are forged, some say they are just coated.

The truth is, that both types of 4A-GZE pistons that have been inspected and tested are indeed FORGED. Both the 8.0:1 type from the early AFM type GZE (MR2) and the latest model 8.9:1 from an AE101 GZE were tested. The early type sourced from a busted MR2 motor, and the late type being purchased from Toyota by myself personally (and verified from a busted piston donated by Mr Shin).

These late model, 8.9:1 compression pistons are available up to 0.5mm oversize from any Toyota parts dealer at a retail price of $100.00
