Fuel pump recommendation Sat, 28 February 2004 07:33 Go to next message
I am getting my fuel tank modified to take an intank fuel pump. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. The only requirement is that it should be able to handle 250-300 hp worth of fuelling.

Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers Dave.

I'd suggest the 255lph Walbro or the 280lph Denso/USDM Supra intank pumps if you want some headroom.

Below are a few common Soarer upgrade options

Thanks Manny. The 1UZ and 1JZ fuel pumps will be fine in the interim (engine will remain completely standard for at least a year or so) - just wondering if you know roughly what they flow?

Walbro is the way to go, I'm using one in the Supra and it's great. It will easily flow the power you're after.

If you guys don't mind me asking, what is a ball park figure that I'd be look at for a Walbro?

That's where I got mine from. I bought the high-pressure 255lph pump, but the "normal" 255lph pump should be plenty for your needs. US$85 plus shipping, which from memory was pretty cheap.

Not sure of exact flow rates, but the Soarer 1J fuel fuel pump flows enough fuel for 250rwkw at standard 3 bar base rail pressure. Quite a few lying around after upgrades on the ALSC - no one seems to be able to sell them on there as they don't seem to fail.

Bosch make an internal pump that is meant to be good for 550hp and costs around $200. I think it was used in some Merc V8's. K-Jetronic.

But sounds like the Walbro's are cheaper Smile
